ABOUT US

THE INITIATIVE

YES NO SOLUTIONS – #MoKonsian#MoPranKont, is a free non-profit online platform that connects Mauritius’ various stakeholders and people to foster a plastic circular economy, to initiate and to engage human beings in a clean environment lifestyle.

We are a voice for people and businesses to learn about environmental protection by upcycling, personal involvement – Do It Yourself (DIY), voluntary or obligatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and industrial practices.

This platform was initiated by bringing together a number of NGOs and corporations in Mauritius and Africa who shared a common goal and experienced a similar culture. The YES NO SOLUTIONS platform allows individuals or businesses to:

  • Help us in spreading the word for a cleaner Mauritius
  • Share ideas and brainstorm on subjects related to the clean environment lifestyle
  • Share the best practices in their organisations and from all around the world
  • Propose solutions towards material recovery through circular economy including recycling

We bring at your disposal a “Track Your Recyclables“ system which allows you to locate any collecting bin location through google earth in Mauritius.

We make use of the international best practices to support our causes such as European Union, World Economic Forum, The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations and Ellen MacArthur Foundation. We share best practices, encourage advocacy, and get the best of both worlds of Yes and No.

We value conversations, share knowledge and engaging with people and experts in each segment of our mission such as

  • Responsible Consumption Lifestyle
  • Respect, protect and restore the Environment
  • Contribute to Ocean cleaning & restoration
  • Climate change

OUR PARTNERS

Mission Verte

Mission Verte is a Mauritian non-profit association created in 2007, to work for the preservation of the environment through education and positive action. The aim is to raise public awareness about the need to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost waste.

The organisation is currently operating about 50 recycling bins sites around Mauritius. Mission Verte acts as monitors and ensure that the waste collected (paper, cardboard, aluminium cans and plastic) in their bins goes through the proper channels, i.e. recycling and exporting companies.

They strongly believe that education goes hand in hand with any of our actions. In order to make people understand waste sorting and ecological behaviour and motivate them to successfully implement it at the workplace or at home, we organise education and conferences sessions for schools, community centres and companies, and also home composting sessions. Up to now, about 25,000 people have completed educational sessions with the association.

We-Recycle

Registered as a non-profit NGO since 2016, We-Recycle’s mission is to educate, to collect for recycling and to help shape policies, legislation and recycling programs that will help keep Mauritius clean.

We-Recycle believes passionately in teamwork. This belief is reflected in the way we work collaboratively with Government, Local Authorities, Private Sector, Youth and Community Groups to achieve our mission and make a difference.

Our vision of a sustainable future where recyclable waste is managed responsibly, and recycling becomes part of the Nation’s DNA is achievable if everyone acts to Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Veranda Resorts

Veranda Resorts, being part of Rogers Hospitality, has embarked on an ambitious project of eliminating single-use plastic items from our operations. The task is challenging as it involves finding the balance between health and food safety requirements and environmental impacts of our operations. Our internal procedures are currently being reviewed by our teams in an effort to find ways whereby we can eliminate single use plastic items with reusable options.

As a priority, we have started tackling guest-facing plastic items and as at date, we have eliminated 15 items including straws, room key cards, plastic bottles, containers of wet amenities with eco-friendly alternatives. We regularly conduct awareness sessions for our team members to inform them about the dangers of plastic pollution and what are the good practices to adopt to reduce usage of plastics. Our fight against plastic pollution is no easy task but we are motivated and committed to achieve our target of eliminating guest-facing single use plastic items by end of this year.
